Florence Nightingale is a famous nurse. Her parents were rich and she was born in Italy. When she grew up she became interested in social problems. She was young when she decided to do something useful with her life. She went to Germany to learn about nursing. She went to crimea with a team of 38 nurses. They help wounded soldiers. At first the military hospitals was dirty and badly organised. But Florence made the hospital clean and safe. And she always walked around the hospital with a lamp and thats way she got the nickname ''The lady with the lamp''.
